The Problem with Modern Marketing

The marketing space has earned a bad reputation—filled with recycled advice, Lamborghinis, and overpriced $997 courses.

Because of this, the industry as a whole is blamed for the actions of bad actors who dominate the spotlight.

Yet, despite all the noise, marketing remains one of the most valuable skills you can master.

When done right, it becomes the driving force behind business growth—creating a predictable system for turning attention into leads, trust, and consistent revenue.

The real problem isn’t marketing itself—it’s how it’s being presented, packaged, and overcomplicated to create confusion instead of clarity.

Here are some common frustrations you’ve probably experienced:

All these indusrty problems make it harder than ever to find clear, effective marketing strategies that actually work.

Our Approach

Always Unique

You’ve probably noticed that much of the marketing advice out there feels like the same boring, recycled strategies you’ve already heard before.

That’s because it is—repackaged ideas with no real analysis or fresh perspective, leaving you stuck using the same overused tactics as everyone else.

But you’re not here to blend in—you’re here to stand out.

That’s why we go deeper, uncovering fresh, research-backed insights and real-world case studies to give you actionable, unique strategies that help you break through the noise and gain a true competitive advantage.

Only Actionable

It’s frustrating to keep hearing vague advice that leaves you with more questions than answers, keeping you stuck.

You don’t need more theory—you need clear steps you can apply right away to start seeing real results.

That’s why we focus on practical, proven strategies designed for action—so you’re always moving forward, not just collecting ideas.

Clear, Concise, Content

Have you ever started a course or guide, only to give up halfway through because it was way too long and packed with fluff?

Or maybe it was so dry and repetitive that you just couldn’t stay engaged?

Most content is unnecessarily bloated—often to justify a high price tag.

Making it hard to finish and even harder to apply.

We do things differently.

Our content is clear, concise, and engaging, so you can learn faster, retain more, and start seeing results sooner.

Our newsletters take just minutes to read, and our materials can be consumed within 1-2 hours—giving you maximum value without wasting your time.

Timeless Over Trends

Too much of today's advice is centered around short-lived trends, leaving you scrambling every time platforms update their rules.

You need proven strategies that work today, tomorrow, and years from now—not just while a trend is hot.

That’s why we focus on timeless marketing principles that hold up across any platform, so you’re always ahead—no matter how the landscape shifts.

Make Premium Information Easily Accessible

Too many creators nowadays slap a massive price tag on surface-level, easily searchable content, marketing it as “exclusive” when it’s anything but.

You shouldn’t have to spend a fortune to access insights that truly help you grow.

That’s why we offer tons of free, high-value content and keep our paid products affordable with a low entry point, ensuring you get real value without the risk.

The Why Behind It

Hi, I’m Preston, the owner of GetClicks Marketing.

GetClicks is far from my first business.

From a young age, I was drawn to entrepreneurship—I just loved building.

Anything that sparked my imagination, I tried to create with whatever was available.

As a kid, that meant using household waste—cans, string, boxes, and a ton of packing tape.

There wasn’t anything you could tell me I couldn’t build.

Cars, airplanes, hotels for my action figures… if I had enough materials, I’d even build a fort for me and my brother.

But as technology advanced, so did my interests.

I shifted my focus to the digital realm.

By about age 10, I was building websites—though I had no direction or guidance.

What started as a fun hobby eventually turned into a desire to monetize.

But back in my teenage years, online entrepreneurship content was scarce.

There were plenty of “gurus” (I grew up in the Tai Lopez era).

But practical, step-by-step advice?

That was like winning the lottery.

As a result, I spent most of my teenage years just building things for fun.

I’d launch websites, but they’d go nowhere—because I had no idea how to generate traffic, let alone monetize.

During my community college years, I worked several jobs, but like many of you,

I quickly realized the 9-to-5 life wasn’t for me, 40 more years of this no, thank you.

There are few things in life I hate more than being told what to do.

After struggling through school (it took me well over three years to get an associate’s degree—did I mention I wasn’t a fan of school either?), I decided not to continue on for a bachelor’s.

That would have taken me at least another four years, and by then, I knew I wanted to go all-in on entrepreneurship.

Gaining *some* knowledge of traffic and monetization over these years, I took my first serious shot at business.

Without much knowledge of app development—only websites—I dove headfirst into the mobile app space, thinking I could figure it out along the way.

That optimism quickly turned into a multi-year struggle.

The first year was spent building, the second trying to keep it afloat.

But despite my efforts, it was a total flop.

The costs to maintain and grow the business far exceeded what I was bringing in.

Add to that freelancers who didn’t deliver, hosting, technical issues, and even getting flagged by the App Store, and it became clear the writing was on the wall.

No amount of effort was going to save it—I had to move on.

So, I pulled the plug.

Some of you may be in a similar situation right now.

You’ve invested significant time and money into a business, but deep down, you know it’s not working.

You’re reluctant to let go because of the effort you’ve put in.

Trust me—do it.

Your future self will thank you, and you’ll likely be further ahead because of the decision you make today.

After that business, I discovered the world of SMMA’s (Social Media Marketing Agencies) on YouTube—where it was marketed as virtually impossible to lose money.

Trying to learn from my past mistakes and avoid starting another costly business, I shifted to consulting in the app space, helping others avoid the costly mistakes I had made.

While profitable (and nowhere near as expensive as running an app business), it quickly felt too much like a job—trading time for money, building other people’s ideas instead of my own.

That’s not why I became an entrepreneur.

So, before I built up a client base that would lock me into that path, I shut everything down, exited the app space entirely, and started fresh.

This time, I took everything I had learned—both through experience and research—and reverse-engineered my next business.

That’s what led to GetClicks.

I built it around my strengths and passions, particularly my love for researching and understanding marketing—how companies grow, how they use customer psychology, and how they apply strategies that actually work.

At the same time, I recognized the major problems in the marketing space (as discussed above) and structured GetClicks to fix them—so that others wouldn’t feel as lost as I did in my early years.
